AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday that 238 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported, bringing the statewide total since mid-March to 11,265. The statewide death toll remains at 190 to date.
Of the total cases counted in Maine so far, 1,160 were considered probable and 2,284 were considered active, Maine CDC said in an update on its website.
The latest statewide COVID-19 statistics show 8,791 people have recovered from the virus since it hit Maine in mid-March, while a total of 678 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus, state health officials said.
The Maine CDC currently conducts coronavirus briefings with Director Dr. Nirav Shah on Tuesday and Thursday of each week.
