AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Friday that 225 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported across the state. It also revised the state’s death toll.
The additional cases bring the total since mid-March of last year to at least 45,452, according to state health officials. The number of deaths stood at 705 on Thursday but was lowered to 704 on Friday. An explanation for the change was not immediately available.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate 12,833 people have completed isolations after having contracted the virus, while a total of 1,560 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Friday, 74 people were hospitalized for COVID-19, 27 of them being treated in intensive care units, while 10 people were on ventilators.
Also as of Friday, 391,148 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 253,135 were first doses, and 138,013 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
