AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Sunday that 142 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported across the state, and one additional death from coronavirus complications had occurred, making the state’s death toll to date 703.
According to officials, the person who died was a man in his 50s from Oxford County.
The additional cases bring the total since mid-March of last year to at least 44,634, according to state health officials.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate 12,800 people have completed isolations after having contracted the virus, while a total of 1,527 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Sunday, 72 people were hospitalized for COVID-19, 24 of them being treated in intensive care units, while eight people were on ventilators.
Also as of Sunday, 346,858 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered. Of those, 227,023 were first doses, and 119,835 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
