AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday that another Mainer has died after contracting COVID-19, bringing the number of coronavirus-related deaths in the state to 145.
Meanwhile, state health officials said 29 new cases of the illness have been detected around the state, bringing the total number since mid-March to 5,865, Maine CDC posted on its website.
Of the total cases counted in Maine so far, 622 were considered probable and 621 were considered active,
The latest CDC COVID-19 statistics show 5,099 people have recovered from the virus since it hit Maine in mid-March, while a total of 466 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
So far, more than 535,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted around the state, according to the Maine CDC.
