AUGUSTA —The Maine Center for Disease Control said Thursday that another 319 COVID-19 cases have been reported across the state and that one more Mainer has died after contracting the illness, bringing the state’s death toll to date to 748.
The Maine CDC said the new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 52,996.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,714 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Wednesday, 78 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Thirty-one of them were being treated in intensive care units, while eight people were on ventilators.
Also as of Wednesday, 823,593 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 483,292 were first doses, and 340,301 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
