AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Friday that 288 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected across the state and that one more Mainer has died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 794.
The new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 63,463.
According to state health officials, the person whose death was reported Friday was a man in his 60s from Washington County.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,890 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus since March of last year.
As of Friday, 127 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Forty-seven of them were being treated in intensive care units, while 26 people were on ventilators.
As of Thursday, 1,216,798 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 650,384 were first doses, and 566,414 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
