AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Saturday that 287 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected across the state and that one more Mainer has died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 795.
The new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 63,750.
According to state health officials, the person whose death was reported Saturday was a man in his 80s from Franklin County.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,893 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus since March of last year.
As of Saturday, 134 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. 50 of them were being treated in intensive care units, while 23 people were on ventilators.
According to the Maine CDC, 1,227,770 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state.
Of those, 652,237 were first doses, and 575,533 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
