STATEWIDE — The Maine Bicentennial Commission is looking for the public’s help to determine what items should be put in the State of Maine Bicentennial Time Capsule.
According to Democratic Sen. Bill Diamond of Windham, the capsule is being used to celebrate Maine’s 200 plus one years of statehood.
He said the commission hopes the capsule will be rediscovered during the 2120 tricentennial
“We just want them to give us something that maybe will not be part of life in 100 years from now,” Diamond said.
“We’d like to have some thoughts,” he said. “We always find when we reach out to the citizens, we get some great responses, so we’d like to have them help us with that.”
Diamond said ideas should be submitted to maine200.org by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13.
After ideas are submitted, Diamond said, Maine citizens will then have the opportunity to vote for what they think should go in the time capsule.
