BANGOR –In addition to the ongoing detour on Ohio Street as the Bangor Water District prepares the area for a bridge project, 2020 will see a number of construction projects in Bangor.
Along with the bridge replacement and paving Main Street, the city will be replacing traffic signals at Main Street and Union street, Ohio Street and Fourteenth Street, and Union Street and Fourteenth Street.
City engineer John Theriault said paving will also be done at those intersections and on Broadway when the weather warms up.
“It’s stuff that’s needed to be done for quite a while…actually the one at Ohio Street and Fourteenth Street I think is probably the oldest traffic signal in the city,” said Theriault.
Come late winter, early spring he said a sewer tank construction project will start on the Bangor Waterfront.
According to Theriault, many of these projects are through the DOT and so are paid for mostly by the federal government.
