BANGOR – Literacy Volunteers of Bangor is calling for support from the community to donate on any given Tuesday, not just Giving Tuesday.
Due to COVID-19, the organization had to restructure its tutoring services to adults who want to improve their reading, writing and speaking skills in hopes of getting a job.
The executive director of Literacy Volunteers of Bangor said help is needed now more than ever.
“A lot of our tutors are meeting remotely with their students and until it’s safer to do so, we’re going to be meeting that way in terms of digitaling or online. There are lots of ways people can contribute to a mission like ours,” said Mary Marin Taylor, executive director of Literacy Volunteers of Bangor.
Taylor said LVB now has a mobile app which offers online tutoring for adults.
