BANGOR – An 87-year-old Lincoln man faces an assault charge after he allegedly beat his son.
According to a statement from Penobscot County District Attorney Marianne Lynch, Gerald McLaughlin was arrested earlier this week following a fight with his son.
There was no information on how badly the alleged victim was hurt, but Lincoln police charged McLaughlin with aggravated assault as well as theft.
Lynch says the assistant district attorney who handled McLaughlin’s initial appearance for the state asked for high cash bail.
According to Lynch, a judge set bail for McLaughlin at $2,000.
As of late Wednesday afternoon, McLaughlin remained in the Penobscot County Jail, unable to post bail.
His case is expected to be presented to the next session of the Penobscot County Grand Jury.
