LINCOLN — A fire in Lincoln Monday night claimed the life of a 7-year-old girl.
Lincoln firefighters were dispatched to a Taylor Street home shortly before 10 p.m. Monday.
According to a Lincoln fire captain, the girl was trapped inside the back of the building. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Five other family members were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Because of the time it took us to make that rescue, the fire advanced further and by the time they got her out, it was fully involved. There were flames about 30 feet,” said Capt. Kenneth Goslin of the Lincoln Fire Department.
Goslin said the fire remains under investigation.
