BELFAST – Murderer Julio Carrillo, who pleaded guilty last month in the beating death of his 10-year-old
stepdaughter, Marissa Kennedy, was just given a 55-year prison sentence by Justice Robert Murray in the Waldo Judicial Center
In July, Carrillo, 52, changed his plea to guilty in connection with the February 2018 murder of the child.
State prosecutors had recommended Carrillo, 55, spend the rest of his life in prison.
Marissa Kennedy’s murder sparked investigations into the state’s child protective bureau after it was learned numerous teachers had reported concerns about the girl’s safety.
The child’s mother, 34-year-old Sharon Carrillo, also has been charged with murder.
No date has been scheduled yet for her trial.
We’ll have complete details on today’s court proceedings tonight at 6 p.m. on ABC 7.
