BANGOR – Husson University has announced classes will be delivered fully online for the week of Nov.16 to Nov. 20.
A Saturday email to students said the decision was made after a recent uptick in the number of positive COVID-19 cases among students.
Prior to this, students were sent an email Friday saying seven students tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. Six of the students were already quarantining because they attended an off-campus Halloween gathering, where another student tested positive. The email says attendees were not wearing masks.
None of the students have been on campus as they all live off campus and were placed under quarantine over a week ago.
The Maine CDC is investigating the outbreak.
According to the Friday the email, every student signed a COVID-19 pledge, and students who violated this or the campus code of conduct will face consequences.
As of now, Husson’s plan is to resume in-person classes on Monday, Nov. 23.
