ORONO – As schools across Maine prepare to welcome students back to class, hundreds of high schoolers were looking toward the future Tuesday.
More than 300 high school students attended the University of Maine’s early college orientation in Orono.
The program allows students to access college classes while still attending high school.
Students from more than 120 high schools and homeschooled students have registered for the program.
Officials said it’s a great price.
“That’s right. The state legislature has been incredibly generous in providing $5 million over four years to support this program and we’re thrilled about that,” said UMaine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy.
