HARTLAND – People in a Hartland neighborhood are upset because they said their neighbor is the reason for a rat infestation.
Michele Cole tells us she’s seen garbage, dead animals and piles of manure in her neighbor’s yard that doesn’t get cleaned up.
Cole and other neighbors agree what’s in the yard has caused rats to be a problem on Blake Street since April.
Cole said she and her dog have been bitten because they’re coming into her yard and on her porch.
Other neighbors said they’re also concerned for the safety of many students who walk down Blake Street to get to Somerset Elementary School and they want to see the town take action.
“I just hope something gets done. I don’t want to make enemies and I don’t want to upset people, but we don’t want to be in our own home. That’s upsetting to me,” said Michele Cole, a Hartland resident.
Town Manager Chris Littlefield declined any statement on the advice from the town’s attorney.
He said the issue will be discussed at next Monday night’s board of selectman meeting.
The neighbor was not home for a comment.
