HAMPDEN — Municipal Review Committee officials informed Bangor city councilors of a timetable of when the old Fiberight trash plant will be up and running again.
“We’re looking at September for them to take waste and the end of the year for them to be at capacity, we do know when they come in there’s always some element of risk when you start up a plant so we’ll have to see how that goes,” said Municipal Review Committee Consultant George Aronson.
Back in April, the sale to Pennsylvania-based Delta Thermo Energy was approved and now, MRC officials say the next 3 months will be spent getting the plant ready to receive trash while also completing construction to make the plant fully operational by the end of the year.
“If you’re familiar with the plant, there’s a front end and a back end. We have a lot of confidence in the front end, we saw it work. The back end has some issues that need to be addressed so we want to plan for them to address the back end within that time period as well,” Aronson said.
