STATEWIDE – Good Shepherd Food Bank is providing some of its current partners with funding.
Kristen Miale, president of Good Shepherd, said the Capacity Building Grants are meant to help the food bank’s partners meet the needs of those dealing with food insecurity in their areas, and COVID-19 made those even greater.
She said some of these partners include school based programs, health care groups, local food pantries in community based programs.
“They’re the ones who are on the ground, handing that food, getting that food out to people in need, and they are under resourced. They are overworked,” Miale said. “This is investments in those community based partners, so that they can do their work more effectively.”
She said this will allow their partners to do even more to help, such as being open an extra day or doing more home deliveries.
