STATEWIDE — Gas prices in Maine continue to climb.
According to GasBuddy’s weekly survey of more than 1,200 stations in Maine, prices rose more than 4 cents a gallon in the past week.
The average price is $2.72 a gallon.
That’s almost 25 cents a gallon higher than a month ago and more than 38 cents a gallon higher than a year ago.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, is predicting a $3 per gallon price at the pump becoming a reality thanks to the speed of recovery from the pandemic pushing demand higher and OPEC’s reluctance to raise oil production.
