BANGOR – Covid-19 is affecting all businesses but some funeral homes have adopted to new changes, like having to limit the amount of people who can be inside during a service.
Jim Fernald is a 5th generation funeral director at the Brookings-Smith Funeral Home
He says it is a very difficult process when you can’t show personal affection to the ones that need it the most
“I think funeral services have been very personal to families over the years, caring for their loved ones and following through with what their needs are with rituals and memorialization, all real personal things about peoples lives that are very important for us to follow through with” Fernald acknowledges “its very hard on families right now not to be able to do that”
Funeral homes around the state are offering new online webcasting for friends and family to view the ceremony.
