BANGOR – A fugitive from justice with active warrants in two states was arrested in Bangor Thursday morning.
According to Bangor police, a tip led them to the Residence Inn, where they arrested 48-year old Michael Tegge of Sterling, Colorado.
Tegge is wanted in both Florida and Nebraska on charges related to sex offender registry laws.
Authorities said during their investigation, they requested the occupancy records from the Residence Inn in Bangor.
“That’s the reason we were hoping for cooperation in getting the occupancy records is simply to identify that one person,” Sgt. Wade Betters said.
“Ultimately, the manager of the Residence Inn refused to comply with that request. We ended up charging him with refusing to comply with that request,” he said.
Refusal to comply is a Class E misdemeanor.
Tegge will be extradited back to Florida to face charges, Betters said.
