PROSPECT — One of Maine’s largest Halloween events at the historic Fort Knox will once again not take place this year.
For the second time in a row, the annual Fright at the Fort has been canceled due to COVID-19.
According to a Facebook post by Friends at Fort Knox, the decision was supported by the community, the state of Maine, and several organizations.
Chris Julian, one of the volunteers of the friend’s group, said this year would be challenging and impossible to safely carry out social distancing protocols.
“It’s a bummer in so many ways you can’t understand. Basically, if we can’t provide everyone with Fright at the Fort that everyone expects, we are just not going to do it,” said Julian.
Julian said they are looking forward to next year as potentially Fright at Fort’s biggest year yet.
