AUGUSTA – Republican Adrienne Bennett has announced her candidacy for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District.
The former press secretary for Gov. Paul LePage said her ties to the district are what’s driving her to run for the elected position.
“It’s where my roots were formed and where I still have them and I’m excited to be a representative of the people and that’s what it’s all about and I’m working to earn the trust of Mainers and represent them in the halls of Congress,” she said.
In June there will be a primary with her and other Republican candidates, former state Sen. Eric Brakey and state Rep. Dale Crafts. That will be followed by a general election against incumbent democratic Rep. Jared Golden in November.
