BREWER – A former doctor from Jackman has been arrested on more than 20 counts of unlawful sexual conduct or assault on two preteen boys, according to state police.
Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says 65-year-old Gerald Keenan was arrested Friday at an apartment in Brewer, where he had been living.
Authorities say Keenan faces 21 charges, including three counts of gross sexual assault, 14 counts of unlawful sexual conduct and four counts of sexual abuse with a minor.
Authorities say Keenan worked in Jackman in the 1990s.
He had been arrested in Louisiana earlier this year and brought back to Maine after one of the boys came forward.
Keenan was indicted by the Somerset County Grand Jury last week, and was taken to the Penobscot County Jail after his most recent arrest on Friday.
McCausland says Keenan was likely transferred to the Somerset County Jail.
