BUCKSPORT- A portion of Main Street in Bucksport was shut down Monday afternoon due to a gas leak.
Authorities with Bangor Gas and Bucksport Public Safety could be seen outside the Camden National Bank on Main Street.
A firefighter told us they evacuated the building and blocked off the surrounding area for a confirmed gas leak.
“Our reports was that a car might have hit a natural gas pipe, that’s unconfirmed and we’re not sure at this time. But there was a broken pipe when we arrived on scene and we were able to shut it off at the meter. So there was no continuous gas pouring out of the pipe,” said Bucksport Firefighter Oliver Bianchi.
He added the road was closed for about 20 minutes after the the leak was stopped.
