BANGOR — A federal task force that investigates unidentified flying objects reportedly is going to release a report to the public.
A June Senate Intelligence Committee report states the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force, a program under the Office of Naval Intelligence, is to provide the public a report about some of its UFO findings.
“This task force is really an extension of the old Project Blue Book that doesn’t exist anymore. They just transformed it, changed the name and it’s been here all along,” said Chris Julian, an Old Town paranormal investigator and member of 207 Paranormal.
The New York Times broke the story late last week and it quotes an astrophysicist who worked as a Pentagon consultant who says the military has found alien crafts.
“Off-world vehicle is an interesting choice of words. I mean, it pretty much sums it up, though. It’s not of our earth, or the earth,” Julian said.
After years of denials, the pentagon released three UFO videos in May.
“As rotten as this year has been, paranormally speaking it’s been amazing,” Julian said. “This is stuff I never thought I would see in my lifetime.”
“Dealing with stuff like this, you realize there is a lot of it going on. The admission from the government makes me wonder what else is going on,” he added.
The senate committee report states the public UFO report must be issued within 180 days of the passage of the Intelligence Authorization Act.
“They’re letting stuff out piece by piece. At this point, we just sit back and see what’s next,” Julian said.
The Times report also states the astrophysicist gave classified briefings about UFO retrievals to members of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Oct. 21, 2019, and to members of the Senate Intelligence Committee two days later.
Maine Sen. Angus King sits on both committees. A spokesperson for King said Thursday he was too busy to talk but added, “Senator King is up to speed and has been briefed on this issue.”
“You gotta almost take it with a grain of salt, you know, the government, they’re going to feed us enough to satisfy that hunger we have,” Julian said. “So just imagine what they are not telling us.”
