FARMINGTON — A Saturday morning fire at a home in Farmington claimed the lives of two people. It was the third fatal fire in Maine this week.
Crews responded to the home located at 160 Clover Mills Road at around 5 a.m.
According to the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office, 75-year-old William Vincent of Farmington was unable to escape the fire and died at the scene.
The second resident, 72-year-old Tomasa Vincent, made it out and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Officials later said Vincent died due to her injuries at Maine Medical Center.
Investigators believe the fire was accidental and was the result of flammable material being placed next to the woodstove.
The fire marshal’s office stressed the importance of maintaining working fire detectors in your home.
The fatal fires earlier this week took the lives of a 7-year-old girl in Lincoln and a 14-year-old boy in Camden.
