OLD TOWN – A “Ruffle and Bark-A-Que” fundraiser helped some furry friends find their forever home Saturday.
NFR Maine held their event at the Old Town Recreation Center.
They raffled off a signed Stephen King book, a kayak, and other items, and raised money through food sales.
NFR Maine brings stray cats and dogs from down south up to Maine so they can be adopted.
“They have such a need and dog overpopulation down there that in the shelters if a dog is placed in the shelter and it’s a stray coming in, they have five days until they are adopted, rescued, or euthanized, so within that time frame we try to pull as many as we can,” said Caitlin Jaird, a graphic designer and foster mom for NFR Maine.
This was the first time the organization held an event like this, and event organizers said they want to hold a similar event next year.
