ORONO – Wednesday, UMaine’s College of Engineering broke its own record for the size of the annual job fair
According to a university official, the career fair gave more than 1,100 students an opportunity to connect with 170 engineering employers throughout New England and the country.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for both employers and for students to get to know each other and for students to really get an idea of what their opportunities are so that they can plan for the future,” said Crisanne Blackie, director of the career center at UMaine. “We want to help them to find a really good fit for themselves.”
She said that during the first engineering job fair in 1998, there were only 12 companies present.
On Thursday, many companies will still be at the university for follow-up interviews with hundreds of students.
