HIRAM — Law enforcement authorities in Maine are investigating the early morning shooting death of a man in Hiram.
Maine State Police responded to a 911 call at around 1 a.m. Saturday for a report of a man who had been shot and who required medical help.
Responding officers found the man outdoors on the property and attempted to help him, but he was already dead.
His name was not made public. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team were called to the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled. Police said the public is not a safety threat.
