OXFORD COUNTY – A Dixfield man was taken into custody after leading police on a chase through eight towns in Oxford County Sunday morning.
According to public safety spokesman Steve McCausland, it started outside a Dixfield convenience store at 10:30 a.m.
Police say Zachary Yahn, 27, pointed a gun at another man, then took off.
A Mexico police officer spotted Yahn’s vehicle and attempted to stop it, police say.
Instead, authorities say Yahn kept driving, leading Dixfield and Mexico police, Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers on a chase.
The pursuit spanned 43 miles from Mexico to Woodstock and back to Rumford.
Yahn was eventually apprehended after authorities used a PIT maneuver to stop him at the intersection of Congress Street and Route 108 in Rumford.
The Dixfield man was arrested and taken to the Oxford County Jail.
Authorities say he’s expected to be charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and eluding a police officer.
According to McCausland, other charges are likely.
