CLIFTON — The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash Tuesday that involved multiple vehicles.
The crash happened on Route 9, beyond the Route 46 intersection.
Sheriff Troy Morton said a car crossed over the centerline and hit a camper that was being pulled by a truck.
He said the impact dislodged the camper from its frame, and the camper ended up hitting other vehicles.
Morton said at the scene that some of those involved were taken to the hospital with serious injuries but he initially did not know how many.
“We have three vehicles totally involved. Individuals were transported to the hospital,” Morton said. “The road will be blocked off for a short time. As you can see we are being assisted by the Eddington Fire Department and the Department of Transportation to at least get some of the traffic moving.”
Traffic on Route 9 was reduced to alternating, one-lane traffic for some time while authorities were on the scene.
