WINTERPORT — More information about the deadly fire in Winterport that claimed the lives of two people Thursday has become available.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said the exact cause of the fire is still being investigated but officials have ruled out arson and believe it was accidental.
Moss said dispatchers received a 911 call just before 4:30 a.m. about a house fire at 622 Stream Road in Winterport.
A neighbor said he woke up to the sound of someone trying to alert the people inside the burning home.
They are believed to be 29-year-old Raymond Cornelison and 20-year-old HannahMae McAllister, who had been living in the home.
