ORRINGTON – Town officials joined first responders Tuesday for a groundbreaking ceremony for their new public safety building.
The new location is at the corner of Center and Tupper drives.
Assistant Fire Chief Chad Bean said the new building will have lots of new features that will benefit first responders and keep them safe after the alarms go off. He also said the new station will be more centrally located.
“It’s going to put us much closer to protecting everybody versus just a percentage in terms of distance to home,” Bean said.
Bean said groundwork is underway and the town hopes the building will be completed by next May.
