BANGOR – Congressman Jared Golden has been all over the state of Maine speaking with people in their communities during his seven months in office.
With the recent mass shootings and discussions of gun control, Golden said Tuesday that people have voiced their concerns.
Golden said he believes there are proposals and laws that could be put in place to give the tools to the right individuals to take action when needed but that more needs to be done.
“That’s not going to be enough. It’s also going to be cultural and it’s going to be about, I think, working the communities to try to address the underlying problems that drive people to violence and I think it’s going to take a concerted effort that brings all of these things together,” the 2nd Congressional District Democrat said.
Golden said it is important to give calm and thoughtful leadership and to listen to people, especially on these type of topics.
