BANGOR — City officials temporarily shut down the Community Connector after an employee tested positive for Covid-19, resulting in three employee exposures.
City officials were notified Thursday of the positive COVID-19 test and said the individual will quarantine per CDC guidelines.
As a result, the Community Connector will not operate on Friday or Saturday, meaning none of the transit system’s buses or paratransit services will be operating. Services will resume on Monday.
Additionally, the bus route that serves Old Town will operate on a Saturday schedule all of next week, and the Black Bear Orono Express will operate 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday next week.
“We understand how much bus service means to our community, and want our riders to know that we did not reach this decision lightly but feel extra caution is warranted. Any passengers known to have been exposed will be notified soon if they have not already been,” said Assistant City Manager Courtney O’Donnell.
City officials said the stoppage is needed to take preventive measures, evaluate staffing levels, and properly sanitize the transit vehicles and building.
