BAR HARBOR — The College of the Atlantic is joining a number of schools around the state requiring members of its community to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The college announced Thursday they will mandate all staff, faculty and students who plan to be on-campus this fall to be vaccinated against the virus.
The school will allow documented and approved religious and medical exemptions.
Students are required to submit proof of their vaccination status or apply for an exemption by August 13.
The College of the Atlantic will also conduct “baseline testing” as groups of students arrive on campus later this month. All members of the college’s community will be required to wear masks indoors until the baseline testing is finished, with the exception of personal residences and private offices.
Anyone not vaccinated during the upcoming school year will be required to wear a mask indoors while on campus, with the exception of when they are in their personal residence or private office.
The College of the Atlantic says the campus will likely be open to invited guests only.
The school is set to open on Friday, September 10.
