BANGOR — As Congress continues to negotiate details of the Build Back Better Better Plan, students and activists met in front of Rep. Jared Golden’s office in downtown Bangor to demand critical investments be included as a part of the spending package.
The investments they’re pushing for include clean energy infrastructure and green jobs, as well as citizenship for immigrant essential workers.
“We are out here to beg Jared Golden to support the best version of the Build Back Better Agenda that he possibly can,“ said Negina Lowe, an organizer for the Build Back Better Rally.
After rallying in Bangor, some of the student activists made their way to Portland to rally in front of Sen. Angus King’s office.
Rep. Golden later said this in a statement.
“I appreciate hearing from all my constituents and political speech and the freedom to assemble are important to me. The details of this legislation are still being negotiated, and I’m openly sharing my views on ways to improve the legislation on the president’s agenda. At the end of the day, I believe it’s my responsibility to see what’s in the final bill before deciding how I’ll vote on it, and I think that when discussing millions, billions, and even trillions of taxpayer dollars that level of attention to detail is important.” – Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02)
