BREWER – A brewer resident spent the morning of his birthday collecting food donations from homes in Bangor and Brewer.
Danny Day posted in Facebook groups and gathered a list of addresses of people willing to donate to the Brewer Food Pantry.
He and his family collected donations from almost 50 porches Sunday morning.
Day said food insecurity is a major issue in the country and throughout Maine.
“I figured why not try to have a direct impact on my community, and Brewer really stepped up. Bangor stepped up,” Day said. “I’m really happy that all these people donated.”
Day is now challenging someone to beat him by collecting more than 49 donations.
