AUGUSTA — As temperatures continue to rise, kids are probably thinking of ways to make some extra cash this spring and summer.
However, as it stands, you need a license to sell lemonade if you’re under 18.
Some lawmakers are passionate about waiving the need for a license and allowing young entrepreneurs to flourish.
The sponsor of the bill said 16 states already allow it, including some neighboring New England states.
“Please help me balance the state law. If adults can sell marijuana, then kids can sell lemonade,” said Rep. Justin Fecteau, R-Augusta.
Fecteau said there have been several instances around the nation where kids have tried to raise money for good causes but have been shut down and fined.
The bill will go to a work session and be reviewed before becoming a law.
