BANGOR — City councilors are taking the next step in building a new transit hub in Pickering Square.
In Wednesday’s city council workshop, councilors announced when construction of the hub designed by Artifex Architects & Engineers will happen.
“Hopefully construction on that building will start this summer,” said Bangor Assistant City Manager Courtney O’Donnell.
In December, the councilors decided on a courtyard design of the hub which will include a new building, bus platform, and canopy.
The assistant city manager added the price tag for the hub is still up in the air.
“We don’t know what the costs really are going to be until those bids come back, and so that’s the outstanding thing that we’re on pins and needles for. But otherwise, having just walked into this project, I’m very impressed with the level of collaboration and worked that gone into it so that’s great to see,” O’Donnell said.
The transit center is expected to be completed by the fall.
