BANGOR — Members of the Bangor School Committee met virtually to discuss their superintendent search process.
After reviewing the Bangor School Department hiring policy, Maine School Management Association officials informed committee members of the strict confidentiality aspect of the search process.
Committee members are not allowed to discuss who the superintendent candidates are or address any rumors of possible candidates.
The committee members also have to sign nondisclosure agreements concerning the superintendent search process.
“If you feel as if you’re unable to fulfill the responsibility of being involved in this process in a confidential manner, then it’s important that you identify that now and choose to select off the committee. Otherwise, once you sign that form there’s every expectation that you’ll honor that,” said Steve Bailey, an official from MSMA.
As it stands, the school committee is scheduled to complete the hiring process in late April.
