BANGOR – The Bangor Police Department and the Eastern Area Agency on Aging are helping furry friends this winter with their annual pet food drive.
Between the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 they’ll be set up inside Shaw’s on Main St. in Bangor collecting donations.
Bangor Police Sergeant Wade Betters said it can be hard for older people to get the pet supplies they need in the cold winter weather.
“It’s common for some of our elderly or senior population to not be able to get out. They’re not as mobile during the winter especially. So often times these folks have trouble getting to the store to get food for their pets,” Betters said. “A lot of them prioritize the pet getting food over things in their own life.”
Accepted donations include wet and dry cat and dog food, toys, litter or a cash donation.
All donations go to the Furry Friends Food Bank.
