BANGOR — The City of Bangor Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back a key campaign at a perfect time.
#Takeabreakandrecreate has been used through the years by the recreation department as a tagline to get the public involved in recreation activities.
The campaign has been revived to kick off their winter sports programs.
With the pandemic changing our daily lives, they’ve had to reconstruct a few programs.
The department is offering basketball programs, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course, and ice skating at the Sawyer Ice Arena.
Opening up of some of our winter programing specifically with trails at the golf course and some of our basketball programming. Our staff here thought well lets bring it back so take a break and recreate is back and it couldn’t be more appropriate as the winter season is upon us,” Parks and Recreation Director Tracy Willette said.
Willette said the department has kept some roads open at the Roland Perry City Forest for outdoor walking and will continue to provide as much as they can for both young and old while following the state and federal COVID-19 guidelines.
To check out some of the programs, go to the Bangor Parks and Recreation Departments website or check out their social media pages.
Willette said they will continue to add more programs in the future.
