BANGOR — Bangor International Airport announces new destinations with American Airlines starting this summer.
Bangor International Airport Director Tony Caruso said there’s been an uptick in passenger traffic and they will be offering flights to both Dallas and Miami starting this summer.
“It’s an airline decision but obviously there is a market between Bangor and those two destinations as well as folks coming to the area and with summer to our fall season, both on the business and on the leisure side. We are looking forward to some good performing routes,” Caruso said.
There will be Saturday flights to Miami from June through Labor Day and flights to Dallas that will begin on July 3 and be operated daily from August to Nov. 6.
“Both hubs are going to be great for our traveling public. Obviously, with Dallas, you are getting a lot and obviously, with Dallas, you are going to get a lot of our westbound traffic, and with Miami, you get a lot of southbound and some of the Caribbean,” Caruso said.
Mackenzie Sering is a frequent traveler.
“I have flown to Dallas before via other airports and it’s a really nice airport so it would be a good destination, and Miami, then you are in the right place,” she said.
Officials at BIA are hoping that these two travel destinations become popular travel routes for those taking American Airlines.
