BANGOR — The Bangor City Council has made a decision on the open seat of late councilor Sarah Dubay.
Council Chair Rick Fournier said the council opted to wait until the next standard election in June instead of holding a special election. He said this decision was made to prevent extra costs to the city of Bangor.
The decision was made at the Nov. 22 council meeting.
Before the meeting started the council held a moment of silence to honor Dubay, who passed away from lung cancer earlier this month.
“I just said, Sarah Dubay, my understanding is that you’re in a special place. There are no green fees, and the trout are always biting. I think that’s what Sarah would have wanted. Something light and up-moving in her remembrance,” Fournier said.
Dubay was just 46-years-old at the time of her death.
