BANGOR – A Bangor toddler battling cancer had his dream come true Tuesday.
Thanks to Make-A-Wish Maine, three-year-old Leon can now fill his bedroom with toys, games, and furniture.
Rudolph couldn’t make it to Leon’s parade Tuesday afternoon, but there were live reindeer present.
According to the Make-A-Wish foundation, like most days, Leon’s day Tuesday started with chemotherapy.
When the day’s chemo treatment was through, Leon was taken by limousine to his home which had just been decorated for the holiday season.
Once Leon was home, trucks decked out for the holidays slowly paraded past his house.
“So a part of Make-A-Wish, it’s not just so much getting a wish, but it’s having that memory that lasts a lifetime. It’s clinically proven to help in the healing process,” said Karl Laurenovics, a volunteer with Make-A-Wish Maine. “So I can assure you that this little boy won’t be thinking about cancer or his sickness today, he’s going to be thinking about how wonderful this experience is and that’s why Make-A-Wish does what they do.”
All of the gifts on Leon’s wish list were delivered to him by Santa Claus.
