BREWER– Bangor and Brewer Fire Departments rescued one person in the Penobscot River.
Bangor fire officials say they received a call of a woman stuck in the rapids on a kayak at around noon.
That’s when the Brewer Fire Department responded and called for assistance from one of the motorboats belonging to Bangor fire.
“The biggest takeaway message was that she didn’t have a life jacket and she’s very lucky. I can’t stress enough the importance of making sure that if you’re going to go out on a waterway, whether it’s a river, a stream, a pond, a lake, that you need to wear a life jacket and you need to be prepared,” said Bangor Fire Department Assistant Chief Chandler Corriveau
He said there were no injuries during the rescue.
