BANGOR – The staff at Bangor International Airport are expecting a slower holiday than usual this year, thanks to COVID-19.
With the National CDC urging Americans to stay home this Thanksgiving, and numerous health officials in Maine echoing that sentiment, BIA director Tony Caruso says they won’t be seeing the usual holiday rush.
However, Caruso says the airlines will still be providing service, and he reminds anyone traveling to travel safe.
“We recommend, continue to wear your mask, wear it properly. Make sure you maintain that six-foot social distance,” said Caruso. “Try to do that in your ticketing line, the line that you go through security screening as well, and obviously boarding the airplane. Boarding process is a little bit different, but it’s all due to the result of the pandemic.”
Despite the expected drop in passengers, Caruso still recommends people who are flying to arrive two hours before their scheduled flight to allow enough time to get through check in and security
