BANGOR – A Medway man facing drug charges following a fatal crash that killed his wife appeared in a Bangor courtroom Tuesday.
Joshua Bell, 31, has been charged with two counts of felony drug possession, after authorities say they found 1.5 grams of both heroin and meth at the scene of the accident.
The crash happened on Interstate 95 Friday night near Lincoln.
Bell’s 36-year-old wife, Stephanie, was thrown from the vehicle when it overturned and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Fatality investigations are some of our most detailed investigations, so they do take a while,” said Penobscot County Deputy District Attorney Devon DeMarco. “As the investigation progresses, if we feel that it’s appropriate to bring more charges, we will file charges at a later date. But as of right now, this is proceeding as a drug case.”
A judge set bail for Bell at $500 cash.
He was also ordered not to use or possess intoxicants, and he’ll be subjected to random search and testing.
